The United States is the richest, most powerful country in the world. It spends approximately 1.55 trillion dollars on health care alone, close to one-half what the entire rest of the world spends on health care. The cost of drugs skyrocketed from 78.9 billion in 1997 to 154.5 billion four short years later. Today the cost of drugs has reached the staggering $_______ mark.

We have the best doctors, the best research, the best technology, the best facilities, the most drugs, and the most money. Logic would tell us that we have the best health care system in the world. Logic would also tell us that if we have the best health care system in the world, then we must be the longest-lived people in the world.

In spite of the dollars spent and the medical sophistication bragged, the World Health Organization ranks the U.S. a pathetic 37th in the world in health. Furthermore, our longevity trails behind twenty-five other countries, such as France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Japan, Malta, Israel, Switzerland, and our neighbor, Canada.

But we don’t need to look at the statistics. We just need to open our eyes and look at all the pain, sickness, suffering, and early death all around us.

We must be doing something wrong.

Do you want to live longer? Leave the country, but make sure you leave your bad eating and lifestyle habits home.
