Have you ever wondered why the rice served in a Japanese restaurant, or cooked by a Japanese friend is so good? My sons Grandma use to have to make us rice and bring it over – it was the best. Until I finally asked her what her secret was. It’s all in the rice cooker she told me, if you want perfect rice, you need a Zojirushi Rice Cooker.
I have to admit, for years and years I use to just cook minute rice. It was fast and easy, and the only way I could make rice without making a huge mess.
Then after I started trying to cook a little healthier, I would try to cook rice on the stove or in the microwave. Yuck! It would turn out awful every time. Either it would be so sticky that it was just like one big hard rice ball in the bottom of the pan, or it wouldn’t be cooked enough and would still be kind of soupy, or I would burn it.
I hated cooking rice that way. Keep in mind that my boys are half Japanese, and they like their rice!
Then I got a rice cooker, it was just the cheap Walmart variety. I thought I was doing well, I’d finally have rice that I liked. However – it made such a huge mess every time I cooked rice, that I soon reverted back to my minute rice method.
My oldest son would say to his Grandma “Mommy can’t cook rice, good like you do Grandma.” How embarrassing was that? Here, I have two Japanese boys – and I can’t even cook them rice! So finally, I mustered up my courage, and asked Grandma to teach me how to make good rice. She showed me how it is so easy, if you have a Zojirushi Rice Cooker.
So I went out, and spent the money on a Zojirushi NS-ZCC18 10-Cup Neuro Fuzzy Rice Cooker and I’ve never looked back. It sits atop my counter proudly. I chucked that cheap rice cooker as far as I could throw it.
For me, it really does pay to have a good quality machine.
